    Assmann Pilot badge for review

Would appreciate any comments as to originality on this Assmann Pilot badge. If original, is this considered an early, mid or late-war badge?
    Thanks, Doug

      Hi Doug,

Looks like an original Assmann from the photos with aluminium eagle. The "A" maker mark appeared on the wreath before being placed on the reverse of the eagle as was the case with examples of later manufacture.

      Cheers,
      David

        Hi Doug,

I believe this is a very early type of Assmann badge. Firstly, the use of aluminum is a clue that it is early and also the fact that the wreath is quite thin..another early Assmann trait IMO. I would put this type of badge in the 1937-1938 timeframe.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

Doug, it's always nice to see an early Assmann PB, actually have a couple myself.
          Congrats!
