I'll crawl back in my hole if everything thinks I'm nuts, but a side by side comparison still bothers me. Chest feathers, tail feathers, and overall detail is just not what I expect from a J1. Something about the Swaz finish looks strange. The reverse doesn't show much wear for the obverse to have shch soft details. I just don't know.

I see what you are saying Larry, the details do look weaker on Marcus's badge than on Andy's and its not wear because usually the first "things" to go are head and talon detail because they are the most exposed.

In this case there is no excessive wear anywhere, the detail is just weaker...Could it just be a later die strike? I've been looking at a lot of pictures of those lately and even though eagles show various degrees of wear because of "exposure" I've noticed wreaths also vary in detail quality (eg. veins in oakleaves) even if they are not so exposed so the dies could have gotten worn over time and loose detail to the extent they had to be replaced.

I also suspect the pictures themselves may have a lot to do with the appearance of the badge/finish.
