    Air-To-Ground support clasp Osang

Hi guys, this one just flew in, as always my pics are on the dark side (about time to start using a scanner for the larger shots)!
Tough, Tough clasp to find! The condition is near mint, this is the best Osang schlachtflieger spange in bronze that I've seen, hope you like it as much as I do!

Nice but are you sure it isn't a Gold version that's lost its finish? Seems there are traces of gold in the pics. The Bronze version is the rarest clasp out there.

Good clasp. Pity on the condition though.

I can only agree, a nice original clasp with not much gold finish remaining.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

            Hi Lubo!
Very nice Osang clasp, I personally really like the Air to Ground claps!
Congratulations for the terrific addition to your collection!

Thank you guys for your replies, it might be the gold version, I thought about it too, but the finish in hand (not well visible on my photos ofcourse) is such a nice chocolate brown color, just like aged bronze finish on a zinc base!
When we see some more sun here, I'll try to reshoot it!
At any rate, its tough one to find!

This is no gold Osang "Air to Ground" Believe my, I got several of them from the veteran who got the "ball hinge glider badge".

The bronze ones are always that color. I have dug out one example (there are more) of a bronze, silver and gold and asked ebony to post a couple of images here so you can see the contrast.

The gold ones are always a bright yellow gold. Some had burnished high points some did not but they were always bright yellow.

The bronze ones were chocolate brown with the odd brass high point showing through here and there. You can see the brass high points on your one clearly.

                Chris

p.s. certain experts have stated that the "ball hinge glider" is a post war fake and that the veteran probably went out and purchased it after the war to try and impress me. While he did one hell of a job because have a look at these Osang clasps if you want to be impressed. All brought back with the "ball hinge glider in May 1945

Lubo, have a look at the 3 in the images I got ebony to post. Your one is certainly a good match with the bronze one that I have shown here.

Well done, you have got yourself a rare one there for sure,

                      Chris

                          Lubo,

my pleasure. Also please have a look at the "swaz" on your one and the bronze one that ebony posted for me. For some reason beyond my knowledge, the arms of the swaz on all the silver and gold examples that I have is some what fatter/ wider/ squashed out than the bronze examples.

The arms on the bronze examples are thinner and more clearly defined. Your one exhabits this charateristic,

                          Chris

                            Hi Chris

Very interesting observation regarding thickness of the swaz - thanks for sharing.

                              Interesting observation, Chris!
Not enough light here for a decent pic, but here is another one (smaller sized to be comparable to yours), just for comparison of the swazis!
