Hi Steve, original zinker, but IMO postwar upgrade to nightfighter (ugly looking shiny/glossy paint, looks new to me)!

        Hi Steve!
Nice looking fighter clasp. NF clasps are a bit of a minefield and for me anyway, I really feel somewhat comfortable with RK NFs, with exceptions of course.
The black paint does look a bit "strong" in a few spots & totally absorbed by the zinc on others.

Looks like a wartime zinc nightfighter clasp to me that has suffered over time

Original clasp for sure, but the paint is something I'd need to look at in hand and under magnification. There is no way for me to judge with these pictures.

            Regards,
            Frank

              Hi Steve,

I like the clasp along, perfectly fine later-war example. I also like the black finish; it has believable wear to it and I really like the fact that the swastika was NOT painted black. For me this is a legitimate NF.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

Guys, apart from the type of paint, what really bothers me here is the wear to the paint (actually, the lack of wear to the surface of the paint present, well visible left of the Swazi- viewer's), 70 yrs. and such a crispy, fresh looking paint!
It's always more difficult to deal with photos, I'm sure in hand it'll be an easy tell!

                  Does zinc absorb paint?
                  Just a question.
I thought the paint just flaked off since it's bonding values are non-metallic.

Looks OK to me. The black paint? Very hard to tell, I must say.

                      Thank you guys

                      Thank you esteemed colleagues!
I am not so worried about it being a NF as to it being authentic. Anyone have an idea of the maker?

Now that is the question of the day Steve! My money is on Juncker, but Deumer & IMME are in the running as well IMO.
