Gorgeous set Chris! Lovey Deumer using Juncker J2 parts and clearly put together at the Deumer factory. Typical Deumer-type case as well, and love the documents too!

                      Great set!!!

In my opinion the observer eagle is the most nice looking.

                      congratulations,
                      Max

Very nice set in deed. Has nobody noticed the award date? 1943 seems awfully late to be getting a tombac/neusilber award. I would have thought zinc would have been in full production by then.

Ha, I thought the same thing Rich. But then I figured with this being a J2, it was probably a bit later in the war. However, I agree that an award in 43 is pretty late and I would have expected a zinker.

Wow - that is a scorcher. Simply lovely. Congratulations.

I have never been convinced that manufacture dates and award dates need necessarily be that close together. There must have been stocks held in various places that might have taken years to be issued.

I have never been clear on private purchasing of air crew awards either. Were 'higher quality' private purchase pieces perhaps available late into the war?

Whatever the story, that is a lovely badge Chris!
