    Juncker Observer & Radio Badges

I recently picked up a small group of Luft. badges from an old collectors estate that goes back 20-30 years. I already sold a few spanges but kept these two badges.
Shown are two badges that are quality heavy construction with excellent sharp details. The front raised highlights of both badges appear polished. The rear wreath and rear eagle of the Observers have almost a mirror polished like quality-although the attached photos don't show it very well. The radio badge is marked C.E. JUNKER BERLIN SW and the observers marked CE JUNCKER BERLIN SW68.
From what little I've read I understand only late war Juncker badges were marked with the '68' but this observer appears to be an early manufacture? The Observer Juncker mark appears to be different style than others I've seen posted, but the quality and construction really suggests it is origiinal?
    Anyhow inputs would be appreciated..thanks.

      Spin,

      Good news.....and bad news.

      Which do you want first?

      Observer is definitely bad,

But the RO/AG is a sweetie.

You should be able to get 4 hours sleep tonight!

        Hello Spin,

I can only agree with Tim.

The Juncker Observer is not original: The rivets do not match, they are too large and wrong "shape", also the hinge is comletely wrong.
The maker mark also looks strange, but I cannot see it propperly due to the angeled images.

On obverse the eagle doesn´t look like a correct Juncker eagle.

The ROAG is a nice original one for sure.

        Kind regards

        Martin

AGREED, the ROAG is a nice original but the Juncker is a well known fake. The wreath on these we see on several other type of Pilot and Para fakes, made with all sorts of different maker marks. Nice quality fake though.....

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

Thanks for all the input-the quality and general 'feel' and sharp details of the observers suggested it may have been original-I was more concerned about the '68' Junckers mark which I thought was only used on late war pieces. Has anyone seen a similar observers? Here's a closeup of the mark...I';m going to try and return it if most everyone feels its no good....

I love the ROAG, and although the Observer isn't good it is a high end fake and a great space filler until the good one comes along.

personally I avoid badges marked with the '68' as I have been collecting for 35 years and in the early years the 'word' was that these weren't good. I'm greatly looking forward to forum members shedding some light on this.

Hi spin, the observer is as stated a fake, and no mm or sharp detail will ever make it real, if possible get your Money back, as for the different shrift and the "68" added, it is mostly observed on zinc very latewar badges!

The idea that 68 badges are fake is an old wives take perpetuated in the pre-internet days. We know much better now - they are good. There are even EARLY NS badges with the 68. See the Flak book page 154.
