    Gold bomber clasp question

I amm looking at possibly purchasing a Bomber Clasp in Gold to go with a document grouping I own and have a question(s).

I have seen numerous Gold spange on various sites and the prices vary a far amount i.e. based on wear, maker etc..

What is a fair amount to pay for a "used" bomber clasp in Gold and more importantly are there specific traits I should be looking for to match a Bomber Claps in Gold which would have been awarded in late 41?

    Your thoughts/comments are appreciated.

    Hi Jeremy

You have the same expensive variation on the hobby as me - buying certificate groups and then adding in the awards.

Remember that the operational clasps were only awarded from 1941 so you are looking for an 'early' example in buntmetall to line up with your certificate date.

I personally think the award pieces were the ones with round holes and not maker marked but I only base this on photo evidence rather than certainty. The advantage of this theory is that these are the least expensive buntmetall pieces!

The prices vary a lot with condition so check out the usual trusted websites and pick one in a condition that appeals to you.

    Good hunting

    Best wishes

That's a really good point Tim, and I would consider these badge types with a document to be "textbook".

Thanks for the input. To be honest this is really the only group that I wanted to complete the awards grouping and only the Gold spange is missing. The group is to a RKT who went missing with KG 77 as Geschwaderkommodore.

At one time I did get representative pieces for my groups but at a certain point I needed to "divide and conquer" that or clean out my savings.

Michael - thanks for the headsup I will take a look.

          regards

          Jeremy
