That looks to be a good j3 through and through but the rivets look like they have been messed with.

            Regards
            Chris

The rivets seem very suspicious to me. It could be easily a very professional repainted Pilot. Also the catch looks repaired.

Is there a gilt stripe running next to the wreath on the right in the 2nd pic in post #3?

After another look, I agreed. The catch look to be repaired.

If you have a possibility, try to make the acetone test on the gold. I would say pilot remake to PO.

Hmmm, new retightened rivets or Pakistanie fire gild job ?

                        I'm curious ..

                          I'm very skeptical on these....
I suspect a refinish here. Chris highlights some suspicious areas and I don't like the rivets either.

                          Regards,
                          Frank

                            thats a pilot eagle ........ NOT a p/o eagle

for sure rivets open and refinish'd

                              Hi Dai,

Like the others, I too think the rivets are messed with and that casts a bad shadow of doubt over the entire badge. I would wait for a more textbook example IMO.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little
