Guys, I bought this at the recent West Coast Collectors Show in Pomona, California. This is identical to the Civil Pilot Badge, which is in blue and gold enamel, and gilted on the reverse. Having owned a Civil Pilot badge, and foolishly sold it, I know that the dies are the same. This one is in the national colors of red, white and black.

Please excuse my poor computer skills. The next two posts are duplicates, the last pic is a closup of the Juncker logo and is a new picture.

Any info from other members would be helpful.

Its much easier to view your badge if all the pics are in one thread. I deleted the other threads, and will post the closeup of the maker mark here for you. In the future, just reply to your own thread and post more pics if you want to.

Nothing like the original-doubt that it came from the same die as the original either. BTW-originals do NOT come in blue and gold enamels. Hope you didnt pay too much.

PS. Someone showed one like this before here (but with blue enamels), if memory serves it had the same makers mark but was also marked 800.

Guys:
I just received Andre Husken's 2010 Catalog of Badges of German Organizations 1871-1945. I was able to identify this Civil Flight Badge. It is the flight badge for the League of German Flight Technicians. My understanding of what a flight technician, or flight engineer as its known in the English speaking world, is the guy who watches the engines during the flight.

Husken depicts the Imperial Version and the Third Reich example, which I have previously posted. As to price, he showed an *, indicating it was so rare that insufficient examples had traded hands to make an evaluation.

If some of you have doubts as to the originality of this period enamel badge, made by Juncker, please post facts to support your opinion, not stories about examples made in 800 silver, which probably never existed.

On most other Juncker Luftwaffe awards, that top arm in the 'J' is a bad sign. Does this particular version of award appear in any of the Niemann catalogues?

It is not in Niemann I guess as it is not an award.I am not even sure it should be the size of the ones you have shown.Would be a rather large membership "tinnie"

Guys, you are missing the point. The non enamel badge that is depicted is for the flight radio operator. The blue enamel civil pilot badge is a separate badge, nor does this have anything to do with this flight tech badge as posted. None of these are award badges, they are qualification badges, the civil pilot badge is in Niemann's books, as is the radio operator. The flight tech that I posted has not appeared in any reference until Husken's new 2010 catalog.

How this radio operator badge could have "less enamel", since there is none whatsoever and never had any enamel to begin with, is a puzzling statement. These are three separate flight qualifications badges, Civil Pilot in blue enamel and gilted, the Flight Technician in red, white and black enamel, non gilted, and Radio Operator which never had enamel. Apples and Oranges! The civil pilot and radio operator are also in Foreman's books.

How in the world could the Flight Tech badge be a "tinnie"? What "day event" would it be for? Gimme a break.
