    Luf. Wireless Operator/Flak Badge

    Hello,

I had 2 new additions arrive today and wonder if you would mind casting your opinion over these 2 items as to their authenticity and if you know who the manufacturers are?

    Your opinions are appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Craig.

              Hello,

Now one thing I was a little concerned about is that the swaz on the flak badge looks a little bent inwards. I have inspected other photos and it looks the same on other awards. Can anyone confirm if this is normal or not please?
              Thanks,

              Craig.

                Hi Craig

Nice badges both of them, the first is an unmarked Assmann radio engineer an the second a luft flak by an unknown maker, by some believed to A Scholze based upon the reverse setup to be found on marked bages by this maker.

                  Hello Philippe,

Good, I am glad they're OK, I have no experience in this area, I am in unknown territory.

Thanks for the information, what are the tell tale markings of A Scholze for this badge? Is it possibly made by any other manufacturer?

                  Thanks,

                  Craig.

                    Hi Craig,

Like with any unmarked badge you can only be 100% sure of the maker if you find several maker marked badges with the exact same features. Thats the case for example with your unmarked Assmann.

For all the other badges the best you can do is make an educated guess. In case of the luft flake that guess is base upon similar reverse hardware on maker marked badges (PAB, S-boats....) by Scholze.

I'll post a picture of a PAB below

                    Hope this helps

                        Hi Philippe,

I appreciate you posting photos, but I fail to see the similarity... perhaps it is the clarity of the photos, but I just can't see it.

If you can point out the similarities I would appreciate it.

                        Rgds,

                        Craig.

Craig, you really are going to do your own homework if you are going to dabble with these. Just use the search engine & see what comes up.

Instead of looking at the whole piece, concentrate on specific areas & build up the picture. On Philippe's superb examples compare the ball hinge & flat catch on your Flak to the PAB. With The Assmann, this is one of the easiest of the WO/AG's to id, compare the rivets, the hinge, the thick chunky wreath. In fact the whole piece tells you who made it.

Search on Assmann & see what you can find!

                          Neil

                            Hi Neil,

That is exactly my problem, I have disected this piece and I can't see any exact similarity. I have done my homework, which is why I posted, because I was unsure. My piece (ball hinge) is asymetrical, ie. the pin is not in the middle (yours is) and the flat catch is similar, but does this constitue as an exact replica. Yours catch looks like it is concave, mine looks very flat in real life and looks like it is made of a different material (my catch is made of the same material as the reverse of the badge), yours is not.

I just want to understand and I am sure I am missing the point.

                            Rgds,

                            Craig.
