        OK to me

        I hate these Durante quizzes
I would tend to lean on the good side as Leroy stated the mark looks good and I like the nice defined swaz and the reverse hardware. I am by no means an authority on these and know they are very controvesial but I have studied them somewhat and like what I see.

Based on maker mark and hardware IMO original early J1 Juncker Retired Pilot badge.

          kind regards,

This is the pattern illustrated in Dr. Doehle's books. Note the weak chest detail.

I prefer the puffy chested type.

I know this badge and have mixed emotions. While the badge with the large swastica is picturde in Dr. Doehle's book published in 1942 (?) it is an artist rendering and not the badge itself from what I can see. Other badge illustrations look to be from catolog illustrations as well. One has to ask why 2 patterns of a somehat rare badge from the same maker. The pin and catch look great but the MM appears small to me compared to the MM on other early examplesby Juncker although all the things you expect to see are there. Catch and hinge look good but there is something about the badge. I think M Miller has one and he is good with it. If I had to go one way or the other it would be good although I prefer the "2nd pattern" aesthetically. Certainly not a lot of these floating around as you would see if from th fakers. So I am guessing it is rare and good. Any photo's of this badge being worn? I am ot aware of any.

                    Retired Pilots Badge

I was sent photos of this badge last week and as far as I am concerned it is a nice and original J1 and in the hands of the best dealer.

                      Hi guys,

Thanks for all the replies, much appreciated.

I like this badge very much too, and think it is a very nice, original 1st Pattern RP badge. It has all the characteristics I look for on original Juncker Luftwaffe badges and as far as I am concerned, its a textbook example of this rare award.

As is sometimes the case, some dealers are hesitant about posting their badges on the forums, so I posted it for him. Thanks for all the unbiased replies guys.

I was asked my opinion at the MAX Show and it remains the same that it is an original.
