this badge can be found on the aution site militaria321....a lot of "doubtful" badges are offered there lately.

IMO the maker mark is strange, too!! Although some parts of the "rest" look promising there a some things strange to me, I would have my doubts on this one.
EG the eagles beak is not correct imo.

      kind regards

      Martin

In my opinion, a well made reproduction.

I don't like anything about the eagle. It isn't a design known to Juncker and lacks detail.

              Looks like a Deumer.

The details look soft on the eagle but it look quite good from the reverse. I'd like to see a detailed shot of the catch to compare but the rivets and the hinge style look like Deumer too.

My first thought was a Deumer as well, eagle and wreath both seem to match.

Its possible this was unmarked and someone got the idea to stick a huge CEJ mark on it, but then that really alters the price for me anyway. I would just pass on this one due to these questions.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

Agree with Tom, IMO original Deumer with fake CEJ mark.

that was my first thought too , but that CEJ marking really a eye-killer

I agree that the eagle is a Deumer design but I don't see the finer details on the wing feathers.
The hardware does match up with known Deumer examples though.
Now why would someone put a phony mm on a good badge?

Indeed, good question. It's not one I would like to buy without having a good hands-on inspection.

Seems to be a scam re-marking original badges with new MM's to make them more valuable.

Here's a pilot/ observer I have which is clearly a FFL but stamped Assmann!

                              Cheers
