            Hi Gran,

            I see some good points on this one, but ultimately I agree with the others and I would find a better one. I think it might be an original, but just heavily messed with. The hardware for starters is wrong, especially the catch as was mentioned. The hingeblock looks OK, but the central barrel and pin don't seem correct. The rivets are also very worn down, yet the finish on the eagle is pristine, so my guess is it has been off the wreath and possibly refinished. The pitting on the reverse of the eagle is also a red flag.

            I think we are looking at either a good cast fake, or a really worn and messed with original.

                    Academic question.Do Osangs have both the smooth hook question mark catch as well as the thick,flat C catch? I was under the impression Osangs just had the circle plate thick rather C hook catch.
                    I need that book of yours.
