Just got this wide-pin Wiedmann via Militarymedic (thanks Rose!). It is in much better condition than the one in the book. Weights and measurements all spot-on. Very interesting, what I think is, silver plating. You can see on the reverse small dots - under magnification they are areas the silver has flaked off. The closeup shows the interesting structure of the silver, though it is not uniform on the badge, as you can see. The dark areas are clearly the underlying zinc poking through and if you look at the one in the book you see it has the same issue - but half of it, including the head, was black. An interesting silver finish for sure. Hard to find these wide-pin setup variants! I had to sell mine to that evil villain FRANK DODGE to help finance book purchases, but I have finally caught up to you, you demon!

Marc,
Glad to see it arrived!
I have to say that when I held it and looked at it that I really liked the finish. I don't think I've seen another finish similar to this one. Most are obvious bright silver, and others have the black lacquer. It's a nice one.. I took a few pictures of it for myself (I hope that was okay).
The new lens makes it look good!

Great addition Marc, definately a rare bird I would love to get my hands on. It certainly landed in the right collection though, nice snag.
