totaly ok, and also from a great dealer, klaus rules haha
its a nice typical tombak clasp with the usual setup etc

to bad about the cracks in the pin etc

Klaus rules indeed, one of the reasons I bought it.
The other was the price, another is the beauty of these claps.

I just might focus myself on Bomber, Fighter and other clasps!

Nice original. The crack to the wreath was found after the stamping process so you'll see this area was repaired/strengthened with solder at the factory before the finish was applied. Most clasps have survived all these years with their wreathes intact but some, like yours, managed to develop a crack. Still, a great looking piece with lots of character.

Well, it's early war for sure. Maybe someday someone will research these and write a book

Good to hear, but why is it for sure? Because tombak wasn't used by the Germans late in the war or a different reason?

I would say 1941-1942 timeframe. Brass and nickel silver started to be phased out by then, switching to zinc since it was more economical and easier to get in Germany as the war took an ever increasing toll on her economy.

Generally speaking, by 1943, I believe most if not all war badges were being made of zinc.
