Darell, I want to do this already today, but before that I want to do some nice pictures on daylight. But I have no lucky, the weather is still dark-cloudy.
        Maybe tommorow?

          Help on P/Os

I'm no expert, and if everyone's saying they're both perfectly original badges, then I have no doubts that they are. However, I'm hoping you guys help me out with a couple things on the second P/O...

          1) Why does it look like it has solder all over the top of the swastika? Usually when something like that is on a badge, everyone's screaming about repairs to de-nazified badges, etc.

          2) The rivets on the back look gold, not silver like the first badge. Again, I'd be expecting everyone to scream that it's been repainted or something like that. Even the paint near the rivets looks different to me than the paint on the rest of the reverse of the wreath.

Obviously, I'm wrong, but I'm hoping someone can educate me on why no one even had one shred of doubt about the condition of the second badge.

i see what youre saying about the solder looking stuff on the second pictured badge.....but I believe it is just the picture distorting it. I think the metal on the top of the swas is wearing away or scratched and just looks shiny in the second pic. examine the other picture of the same badge....u can see it doesnt look like solder there. Plus you can tell right away these are good badges IMO

Pauli, the swastika on second badge is not repaired, maybe was polished from the front... but not repaired.

Some zoom on this repaired part, but I ll need some bether photos.
Its marked with red and blue colour.
RED COLOUR : marked location of defect on badge.
BLUE : still visible black spots of replacement. Repair its very quality made!
Golden finish looks ok from photo.Still nice badge.

Sasha the other one PO J1 its 100 times bether badge and I realy like it!
If You will sell it some day just let me know!
                    Best Regards
                    Pauli

                      Bagel,
I agree, from the front the swasi certainly looks toyed with, but from the back I can't see a problem.
Enough to make me turn my nose up at it....I guess Mark Miller is finally starting to influence me!

I don't see any repair, think it's the way the swas was polished.
Any replacement would leave other traces and needs re-finishing to make it invisible, besides that I haven't seen much replaced swas' that were matching the badge, all are too small, too big, too thin, a-symetric etc..

                        Jos.

I see no repair either just looks like the finish remains more between the claws than on the arms of the cross.
