Question on Metal Breast Eagle

Hello, were EM/NCO authorized to wear the metal breast eagle for the summer tunic, or was it meant for Officer ranks only?

Technically the summer uniform was for officers only but that was disregarded. Those who did wear the summer uniform wore a metal eagle.

Thanks for the reply, appreciated. The reason I ask is that I have seen quite a few leather flight jackets worn by EM/NCO where a metal eagle was attached. Is this strictly 'correct'? By way of example:

Many NCO's wore a Summer eagle and few rare pictures are showing NCO's in white Summer tunic

The leather jacket was an unauthorized piece of clothing, so a metal vs embroidered eagle is not a question. It was simpler to sew two loops on for a metal eagle than to sew on a cloth one. Owner preference, nothing more.
