Opinions on Para Badge on E-Stand

I would like to open a discussion thread on this badge currently offered on the E-Stand:
    http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...834#post381834

Please use this thread to discuss the badge rather than the E-Stand thread. Thanks!

I know little of these badges but was under the impression that the eagles were all rivited to the wreath, rather than Crimped.

If I am incorrect please let me know!

    Thanks!

      Hi,

Sorry, but that looks like a 50s Souval catch to me, although a different shot of the catch may prove me wrong. At this stage, I think it is an early repro.

        Robert,
I do not collect these badges but I do follow all of the discussions and try to keep up with all that are posted. Sorry to say, but there is nothing about this badge that indicates it is pre-45.

For me everything that can be wrong about this badge is wrong. NO way that this is a pre-45 manufacture. Design is way off.

That is definetly post war Souval catch! ... So I believe this badge is from 1950's.

...I have been Souvalized few times

            Sorry...

Jani is right. Definitely Souval. That style retaining catch wasn't used on their wartime pieces and the "fat" eagle is a distinctive postwar Souval feature.

I agree, definately a Souval. Does anybody know if Souval made their own dies for these pieces or bought out dies from factories that obviously would have no need to produce these pieces after the end of hostilities...ie has anybody ever noticed if perhaps the eagle is an Assmann etc?

The eagle would appear to be an absolute fantasy. Damm ugly to.

Lorenzo, you handled that situation well.

We all have been bitten by Souval.

Robert it's OK to make a mistake and find out later the badge was post 45. This has happened to us all.

Agreed, it's a fake that has been around for years.

                        Souval

Wow, I owned one of these when I first started collecting over thirty years ago. It's long gone by now, of course, but thanks for the memories! (I even saved the pics!)
