      Hi Thomas,

Wish more people would respond here, but I think not many people know much about flight clasps as they are so varied.

Personally, I like this one. I like the level of detail (consistent with other late war RSS flight clasps). I also like the look of the catch as well as the shape of the cutouts, very typical of Simm clasps as well. The hinge might be a replacement, but I am not sure since I don't have any more of these on file. It looks like it SHOULD have been crimped in (typical of RSS), but maybe they chose to solder on the hinge instead. Either that, or the original hinge is lost and this is a replacement that has been soldered onto the old crimping.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

that is an original clasp and probably a gold one originally . This makers crimpig tools broke late in the war so the hinge and catch were soldered into the original crimps- I don't see any issues with this one so I would be confident its not repaired. The catch is the correct one.

            Fighter Clasp in Silver(Gold)

Looks like it was in Gold not Silver. Faint traces of Gold left?
