Just wanted to show this S&L Luft Flak.

Hey Chad,

Its a nice wartime badge, but that hinge is quite uncommon for wartime S&L pieces. Its been found on very questionable badges such as the glider that are almost certainly post war.

Can you do a good closeup of the hinge, straight on with the pin closed? A scan is best to get a clear shot if you have a scanner.

Thanks Chad. In my opinion, this is a post-war produced piece by S&L. The wreath and eagle don't look bad at all and could very well have been put together post war using wartime badge parts. Notice also the sloppy soldering around the eagle, uncharacteristic of S&L's wartime production.

I agree here with Toms' assesment. The eagle is definately a genuine wartime S&L bird married to a '57 S&L Flak Badge body. This would leave no doubt that the two parts were joined post war.

The only thing on this was that I was under the impression that these were late war pieces, not necessarily post war.

Hi Chad,

I think some guys think these are late war S&L badges. But I can't remember seeing this type of hinge on anything other than "questionable" badges like this glider, marked with Souval's L58 mark. Also, if you match up the exact configuration of that hinge, you will find that it matches those used on early 1957 badges rather than anything S&L used during the war.

Hi Chad,

I'm with Eric and Tom on the . For me, the first thing that jumped off the monitor was the bizarre hinge set-up, as has already been discussed. I don't think I would want to own that one, and constantly be trying to explain (or justify) the 'oddities'.

I'm with the others Chad. I see these as post war, not late war.
