A nice looking bird for sure Tom. Congrats on the score.

I quoted you above and you are quite correct. Aside from my first MAX when one is just overwelmed at all the "stuff", this had to be the next best.
For all you guys that did not attend because of a personality or two, keep staying away...more for us.
Tom, I missed seeing you as well as a couple other folks there, as I only had about 1/2 a day there Saturday and had to actually run through the back half of the buidling just to see it all.
Next time my friend....

Due to the ecoonomy the show was, understandably, slower than some of those in the past, but it was still good for me - both in terms of buying and selling. Oddly enough, in the last three hours of the show, I sold enough of my wares to pay for the entire trip!
I also found the dealers were more than willing to haggle and reduce their prices. I went around with a friend who was attending for the first time and noticed that a nice Eickhorn, stag-gripped dress bayonet with frog that was marked $265.00 sold for $250. A belt I bought went from an asking price of $80.00 to a sale price of $70.00 on the first "What's the best you can do on this?"
All things considered, I thought the show was well worth the trip. In fact, I already have my tables and hotel reservations for next year
Best,

These dudes remind me of the proprietor of the junk yard/auto-fix-it place in the movie 'Christine'. Watch this entire clip...if you've never seen it, and you'll see how the dealers are just as foul, and crude to the newbies!

Hi guys,
Thanks for all the great replies, appreciate it.
Damn Rich, you have a great memory my friend I did find another early Juncker Pilot badge at the MAX show about 3 years ago. I still have her, also with great patina and an excellent jewler applied clasp to make the pin stay tight into the catch. The pin is very worn down and I have no doubt this was a combat worn piece as well.
Both are indeed nickel silver wreaths, same with the eagles. The only brass I can see is the hinge, rivets and catch.
Thanks guys

Uh hum, uhum, I think you meant the SOS as I was going to buy that one!

Yes George, you are right my friend, it was the SOS rather than the MAX.
Either way, I am glad you finally found one and stopped hounding me for mine

Super badges!
Hi Tom,
These are both really nice Pilot Badges. I remember seeing that jeweler-modified one, and handling it, shortly after you bought it at the SOS. Likewise, I was privileged to see and handle your newest Pilot Badge find at the MAX. Congratulations and thank you for allowing me to see and handle these two gems.
Best regards,
TomMihi libertas necessest!
