    Pilot's Badge - Fake?

This Pilot's Badge is being offered in a document and photo grouping. It looks like a fake to me, but I am not an expert on Pilot's badges. All opinions are welcome.

Original latewar FLL in very good condition with the owner's initials (probably)

        Hi Barry,

I would agree with Lubo, but I don't think the condition is that good. Eagle is very worn on the face and the wreath also looks a bit worn IMO.

But, its an original, no doubt about that.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

I would pass. A badge with the eagle's head completely wore off is very undesireable IMO. Very strange as well since there is almost no wear on the rest of the eagle.

If the grouping is otherwise worth the asking price, OK. I would not consider the badge in that poor condition to add any real value to the grouping other than a couple of hundred bucks.

Possibly the face got ground down when the initials were carved in the reverse and the happy fellow noticed his handiwork afterward...

                Barry,

                I saw that grouping too.

Interested in it as it was titled "JG 26 Schlageter Jagdflieger".

Seems to me that he wasn't good enough for being a fighterpilot with JG.26, (as he only made it to the JG.26 Ergänzungs unit) or any other fighter unit, so he was transferred to become an aircraft ferry pilot.

Another thing, initials in the badge are H.B., while his name is Alfred Richard Beck.

I am very interested in JG.26 but to me this isn't a JG.26 fighterpilot.

                yours friendly

ps. the Wehrpaß you have for a KIA in Belgium is a real III.JG.26 pilot.

It is a good "FLL" unmarked Pilots badge, who knows what happened, different ppl different situations = different wear....... I personally like the FLL Luftwaffe badges, this badge would do nice in anyones collection........

Hi Barry, Notwithstanding the comments below (and given that beauty is in the eye of the beholder), all badges have their own unique charm for one reason or another...the decision to purchase is yours alone good sir. However, the badge is an original IMHO. I love the FLL P & P/O badges, though this one is in relatively poor condition. Cheers, S
                    Cheers, Steve
