Zinc Flak badge, copy???

Hey Guys,

I`d really appreciate any feedback from anybody regarding the authenticity of this badge. I presume that its not right

While the obverse details are incredibly soft (especially around the gears) i would not condemn it so fast. The hardware is spot-on and the rest of the badge looks good. So it is either a casting or it is a very late-war zinc badge. You need to look for other signs of casting beyond just softness as some of the zinc badges just aged very poorly. I think there may be some pest on the front but the back looks very convincing.

I`ve looked closer at the badge, but I dont think I see any casting seams?
I think, like you mentioned, this could be a very late war version.

Hello Dion.
Marc's opinion is pretty much THE definative opinion with these badges,
I agree with him that the attaching hardware is right as rain. The really late war zinckers sometimes don't have the sharp details of earlier badges.
I think it is a real one, albeit a little softer in detail than others I have seen.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, but lets not anoint me yet! All good discussion is worthwhile on these badges. The last thing I want to happen is have my participation on a thread kill it. When Frank was here there were always good discussions - lets keep it that way!
