    Assmann Flak, two patterns?

    Dear all,

With all the latest rumpus about the Juncker Flak types and Philippe´s excellent thread, I wanted to know with how many types of Assmann Flaks we can come up. For a long time I believed the one shown by me was the only good type, but there seems to be at least a second one that is quite different! Please show off your Assmann Flaks and let´s compare types!

    Cheers, Frank

Assmann maker mark, always faint and in relief on that type. Can anybody find anything special apart from that mark in the full reverse shot above?

Hi Frank. here are pics of my Assmann Flak. One thing to look for in the Assmann Flak is the distinctive "notches" in the tailfeathers.

Hmmmm...I'm not sure what you are referring to, but I believe there is a variety of tombak Assmann Flaks that have a plated hinge and catch assembly that you normally see on zinc badges..??

                  Hi Frank,

Same for me as for Rich, Sorry.

Concerning your question, my guess would be that as well on yours as on Lorenzo's badge there isn't a hole next to the gun base, it's completely solid. If I'm not mistaken there exist examples with a hole too.

Philippe is right, I am talking about the type with the hole. I thought for a long time these are fakes and would like to get to the ground of this. Maybe they are real? It is not just the hole that is different about them. Anybody have one?

And Lorenzo is also right, Lorenzo´s and my badge does exist with another hinge/pin/catch setup. And there are the double marked badges (L/64)

And nobody found that little funny thing on the reverse of my badge (and Lorenzo´s!)???

                    Cheers, Frank

                          Hi Frank

One that I have is in finezinc, I think. It is die forged and appears
to have some sort of silvered plating. It has the typical mid-war
type of Assmann hindge/catch setup. Strange thing about it is
a #2 stamped in next to the A mark. This one also has the small
A marked eagle. I am leaning towards it being an original.

                          Best regards
                          Ken

                            Thanks, Jan!

Hint: Jan´s badge type does not have that little extra thingie on the reverse that Lorenzo´s and mine has! Now what is it???
Come on, sharpen your eyes guys. You just don´t see it because you do not expect it to be there where it is....

Edited after reading Kecon´s post: I think Kecon knows about that thingie I refer to!

                            Cheers, Frank

                              Hi Frank,

Stop torturing my eyes here, I start to see little Assmann logo's every where, Next to the catch, on Lorenzo's eagle. For a minute I thought I could see the eagle moving. Just spit it out.
