    Assmann Pilot Badge Help

    Guys,
Because so many people immediately remove the their estand prices I often have no idea what's a reasonable price to ask or pay when a nice item becomes available. On those grounds I need some help with this badge. It looks good to me, but I'd like to hear your thoughts on originality and price. Thanks!

And some of the details. As a side note, the badge is somewhat nicer than the photos indicate.

          Hi Larry,

Compared to my 'A' (Assmann) Tombak example, the rivets and catch are different.

Not sure how many variations are accepted these days. My catch is more like a BSW, not a '?'. The badge you posted looks flat across the bottom.

          It surprised me!

          Regards,
          Mark

            Larry,

Pretty much the same vintage, with this one. The catch has become the 'C' Style, now. Still different from yours, in that this one is more 'crafted'. Yours looks mechanically fabricated. Accepted? Not that I remember .... but then again!

              Back Again,

The Rivets are more of a question. We might start to need serious close-ups of the nipples. I am just asking for the perverts to show up, I know.

Here we go. Hope you got out of the thread what you wanted!!!

I'm sure you remember 4 or 5 years ago, the Forum got kind of 'rowdy' at times! And all we need is for Garlasco to show up.

Mark, while the catch is not like yours, this is not the "?" variety. It was more "C" shaped at one point but was bent at some point and is very difficult to remove the pin. Since I know where this one has been for about seventeen years, it would have to be a fairly old fake. I'd like to hear some other opinions since I'm considering purchasing it and personally think it's okay.

No worries on the badge Larry.

I agree with you when it comes to estand prices being removed immediately. Very frustrating. I only get to check in once in a while lately and miss out on quite a bit.

                    Larry,

IMO a really nice and original badge. Go ahead and buy it.

                      Hi Larry,

Looks like I stand corrected by the aces. Like Skip said, I have gotten real picky due being overly cautious. Probably missed out on some good badges, but avoided even more bad ones, in the process.

                        Hi Larry,

Obverse recess frosting sure looks liberally applied.

I can see I'm going to have to try and get better photos. Natural sunlight this time of year makes it appear that it's painted in frosting when in all actuality, very little remains.

                            A very pleasing optical illusion.

He just wanted to see some more nipples...

A beautiful badge that would compliment any collection.
