Perhaps someday, if not already, we'll have to do microscopic comparisons to the grain structure of the finishes as Yuri proposed years ago, seeing this day coming.

Yes, this is what we're talking about..
Plus, ..if noticed, all originals sofar show a smooth surface at the back of the eagle on which the "sand" was added afterwards so to speak, while the "fakes" show a all wrinkled surface with identical sand pattern.

Just as a sidenote here, the fakers also did the 'sand thing' with a batch of fake 25/50 RK GABs. That was probably 10 years ago.
Original RK badges had a texture to them, and often zink bubbling. But the fakes had sand mixed in with the finish.
Maybe we should refer to these Radio Op copies as the GWL 'beach badges'!

Thank you for captured some of the features I spoke of regarding the two identical badges. If I were to reveal the entire reverse of both badges you would see hundreds of identical features when comparing both badges. I hesitate doing this for already mentioned reasons. But I think what you captured was enough to reveal to others that these two badges are identical copies made from an original badge.
It's a sad thought, but I believe the faker is reading this thread, and already making plans to change from the badge he has been using to another to further deceive us, if he has not already done so.
I'll be keeping my eyes open at the SOS for this 'pattern', and taking advantage of holding one in my own hands. I want to learn what his finishes look like up-close and personal.

Was trying to find this type of badge - helping with authentication, and here it is
I believe this one (which was just sold on Polish auction for $340) is the exact same type of fake. All the "bubbles" are in the same pattern like pointed out here by IndyComment

so I guess its a so called "micro-casting" ?? what method of casting is it ??
My understanding here is that in originall badges bubbles are random and naturall process... here We have a exact super-casting - including bubbles etc.
