I've looked in Detlev's guide and he shows one type. This one isn't an exact match but Detlev thinks these were made at unit level so... Anyone else have any info?

            Hi,

this was not an official award but probably one made by the Flak troups in Danzig. The problem is the "Stumpf & Sohn" mark on the back. Moritz Stumpf and Son (Sohn) were a longstanding jewellers in Danzig and used to make the Danzig specific medals (for shooting clubs, music clubs, Danzig Einwohnerwehr pins, and also City authority medals) even before WWII. At the beginning of WWII they also made the Danzig Cross 1st and 2nd class.

All of the decorations produced by Stumpf and Sohn are first class pieces without flaws.

I only saw an original Flakabzeichen Danzig without the Stumpf and Sohn mark.

The one with the mark is often on Ebay sold for low prices. Check out the one selling at the moment:

            http://cgi.ebay.de/Seltener-Orden-Ab...QQcmdZViewItem

Also check out the sellers feedback (he has sold at least one more of the same type of Flakabzeichen Danzig before):

Another seller has sold quite a good bit of these Danzig Flakabzeichen in the last couple of months. All with the Stumpf and Sohn marking. For a rare item there have been too many on the market within the last year or so imho.

That is what I was afraid of when I saw that one listed on ebay yesterday. He also did a 2 day listing on it.

Excellent info! Thanks. Definately one to avoid.

                Regards,
                Mark
