Looks like an unmarked J2 P/O badge, with a non-Juncker wreath. Very interesting.

            Hello David,

            Their is much about this piece that would concern me ;

The wreath is the biggest concern

            - dipped wreath, typical of Assman, but that is not an Assman wreath.

            - The oak leaves as well as the laural leaves are not shaped accordingly.

            - The wreath looks thinner than it should be and does not look like any wreath that I have ever seen. ( looks like it is oval and concave on the reverse)

The other concerns would be the Eagle, looks similier to a J2 but its not IMHO then it looks kinda sorta like an IMME but it's not.

The finish on the eagle is worn , but even still Doesn't look right.

I have also NEVER seen an unmarked example like this one, but thier is alot that I have not seen to be sure.

The overall detail is weak, looks like a little of that is the pic, but still it's not their.

I think that if you cross reference this piece with the Pilot badge series from all the makers from early to late as well as P/O you will find that this piece is not going to be on the mark for any maker.

I trade away a repo to ERic S. for another repo. maybe he will post a pic of the reverse and I think you will find the wreaths identical.

            Cordially Yours,
            JD

Yes, Joe, I agree with you on every issue. This is the same type badge (if not the very same one) that was posted by a member perhaps three months ago for review. It was being offered to him by a non-member who bought it and another from M. Tucker. The general verdict was that it was an out and out fake, pieced together with cast components.

The fakers are getting very good areĀ“nt they.
The eagle looks like an Imme the wreath looks like nothing at all but is very well made.
Catch/hinge and rivets are all very well done!!

                  Wrong hinge and Pin

And don't forget, the base metal looks grey and zinky where the finish has worn away. The hinge is a barrel and attached directly to the wreath. And so is the catch. That being said, we should see Tombac (or maybe silver) as the base metal.

On a zincker, the hinge and catch should ALWAYS be attached to an intermediate plate or block. At least that's what I look for.

                  Not for you.

Personally, I wouldn't trust this badge.

This "thing" has lost a lot of the gold finish on the back since last time it was discussed!

Who the hell is selling it now??????
