    800 Silver Juncker Pilot Badge

Well, when I bought that wonderful badge collection, there was one piece that was not for sale. I finally managed to get it, for my own collection. I was never positive about these, but with Detlev Niemann declaring their originality, I feel much safer.

The case is the most unusual. It is almost black, in color with a deep purple-black velver, for the badge, and black rayon lid lining. I have posted this case on the cases forum.

I know everyone doesn't like these, but I am tickled pink. Also, the fact that I bought it reasonably makes it easier to like. Unfortunately, the name that was scratched on the reverse has been obliterated. I am pleased and that is all that counts.

Obverse in case. I have chased this badge for over 20 years and finally it is home. I was never fully comfortable until Detlev niemann declared they are original.

I tried to carefully remove the base, but ended up marring the case. I could hear cracking glue, but did not want to do further damage.

Hi Bob, is DN the only one to give these the thumbs up? I thought they were 'jeweller's copies' or such?

You're just all controversy today aren't you Bob! Lot's of emotion on these. We'll never know but at the chance they turn out in an undisputed set with provenance you've got a very rare bird. Again, I think worth the risk. Once you've got all the textbook, where you going to go? There's always Beanie Babies

Bob, I too am lucky enough to own one of these rare beauties. Although still on lay away, I will be getting my hands on it in the next 2 weeks. Here is the link to photos of mine.

It was discussed on this forum back in 2003 when Skip owned it. If you have not yet done so, do a search on: J1 800. Its very interesting reading.

Holy smokes, both of your silver Pilots are smoking hot, I love them .
Whatever the controversy, they're true beauties. there'll always be pieces that will never be proven to be original nor copies, and there'll always be a market for the believers who don't mind the controversy about them.

Very true Rainer. I don't mind the controversy infact I enjoy it and of course I'm a believer in these badges. Not textbook of course, being silver, safety catch etc but to me a pre 45 badge.

Just curious, how do the measurements of the 800 badge compare with it's tombac counterpart?

I seem to remember reading that silver pilots badges were given to RK winners has anyone else come across this explanation before? Nice looking award!

But why are the stamped three times 800?
                              One stamp would be enough....
                              Just a thought........
