Luftwaffe GAB & Flak - are these OK?

Hi Guys

I would really appreciate opinions on this Osang marked GAB and Juncker Flak. To me they look good but there is still room for paranoia! Views of the experts would be very welcome. I have had both for a few years.

Looking at the GAB I must say the material looks a little off. Does not mean it is bad - I would like to see the hinge and catch if possible. The mm looks ok to me, and we have seen other wide-pin Osangs ashe last one in this thread:

But that one seems different. Now I am not as up on my GABs as I am on flaks, but I will just say the details on the ends of the oaks look soft. Of course I have nothing definitive, but another look can't hurt.

PS - OSANG GABs about 28-30 grams

I am begining to share Marc's concerns after a second look. This one is pretty scary to me. The one thing that really stands out now is the softness around the talons. Also, the only Luft GAbs I have handled all have been zink. I would love to learn something new here.

It will be tomorrow before I can take photos of the details but I am pretty certain this is not a zinc example, as the reverse looks like someone polished off the finish at some point and revealed the white metal underneath. The eagle is a separate piece with single rivet attachment. I just got my jewellery scales out and unfortunately the batteris are flat but the kitchen scales, which only weigh to 5 gm increments, show 30-35gms.

Were these badges always zinc?

I know it is tempting for everyone to dive in but, as I hope to sell this item, please could only those who really know these badges offer opinions. The gentleman who originally challenged the badge on the e-stand now seems to be saying it is OK - very confusing for us simple folk!

To the best of my knowledge they were only in zinc. Of course, nothing is impossible. I concurr with your desire not to have everyone log an opinion...

I have a flak badge with what appears to be an almost identical pin assembly. For awhile now we have been trying to find a maker for this period-photographed flak badge. I just wonder if Osang bought hardware from the same source as this flak maker did..? Or, did Osang make this flak? I don't know. One more open possibility. Here's the two, side by side...
