From the photos they both look good to me.

            Thanks Skip,
I liked them and was under the impression that the Flak Badge was possibly a Junker piece. Both are well made and the detail is very good. I have never had a Ground Assault of this type though, and can't find any info on it. Any idea of the maker.

              Hi Keith,

yep, would agree, Flak looks like a Juncker.

No idea on the maker of the LGAB though. They are quiet a common variant with that square catchplate.

                    Unmarked Flak Badge

                    Gentlemen:

I think my Flak badge may be made by the same maker as Kieth's, but the lower catch plate is a round type. I immediately noticed the rivets around the gun mount. It seems that most types don't have these. It has an absolutely beautiful finish. I really don't know if it's Tombak or a really well preserved zincer.

It was purchased from "under the counter" of a small antique shop in Germany in 1957 by a close friend from whom I acquired it.

                    Juncker - S&L - or somebody else?

                    Thanks.

Textbook S&L zinc flak with a very nice die flaw. The S&L flaks only come in zinc and are imho the best quality zinc flak badges. Just crisp and detailed. With yours posted we now see the two types of catches found on these badges. All will be revealed when my book comes out!

                          Thanks Marc!

Can you point out the die flaw? And please let me know more about your book!

I would like to add, for the record, the first badge shown does have the die-flaw. I did not see it at first because of the lighting. It is 100% original.

All S&L flak badges have a die-flaw on the bottom arm of the swastika. It is a visible line:

My book on flak badges should come out later in 2007 from here:
