Oh, I was already happy that he sent me these poor pix ...

It's difficult for people with inadequate photo equipment to make good close-ups of such tiny details!

      Hi Ramjet!

Concur my friend and no offense directed to you as my comments were general in nature and not specific to this example.

You got a nice badge depending on the cost VS that hinge; that would be my one and only concern with this piece.

        Sorry, topic not yet closed.

Got new pix this morning. The guy wants 450 Euros for it in spite of the repaired hinge, says it was manufactured pre-war ...

I already got the wrist compass, two Unteroffizier shoulder-boards and a dog-tag from the wearer of the badge.

Glad to hear Your opinions, gentleman.

          BSW Price

I reckon 450 Euro is about the norm for a repaired BSW, I would try and get him to drop by 50 Euro or so. A lot of BSW's came adrift at the hinge, it must have been an Inherently weak spot! If you want a cheapish tombak version and don't mind the repair I'd snap this one up.

          Cheers,

If the seller is using the 'it's a pre-war badge' routine to try to increase the sales prices, then politely tell him it is not because it isn't. This is a later badge before production in zinc became the norm.
