    A question about the wear of Luftwaffe badge

    Was it ever seen that a Luftwaffe Pilot might wear two war badges on his uniform at the one time, say a Pilot badge and a flak badge if he had come from that background>? Or a Radio?gunner badge?

    I have never seen such a combination but am just curious as to if it ever occured.

    Pilots seem to have only ever wear the Pilot badge and no other war badge.

    I have seen plenty of pictures of Heer and Kriegsmarine where individuals have been seen to be wearing a combination of war badges, but I have never seen it in the luftwaffe.

    Guess I have too much time on my hands at present!

    Ok i know its kind of sad to have to answer your own question but i think the answer is NO as it would perhaps be against regualtions to wear two war badges at the one time

    The Luftwaffe seem to be quite strict when it comes to uniform from what I can see.

      wearing badges

      Hello,

      The wearing of badges was restricted towards regulations, but some naughty soldiers did not always follow these regulations.

      Example 1; a soldier who did earn :

      * Para badge
      * Glider pilots badge

      He was allowed according regulations to wear both badges at the same time.

      Example 2; a soldier who did earn :

      * Glider pilots badge
      * pilots badge

      He was only allowed to wear one of tehse badges !!!

      => but exeptions do exist offcoarse altough against regulations

      Hope this does help you a bit more.

      Cordial greetings,
      my collectionfield : German glider pilots

        Lots of period photos of people of 'breaking' or 'bending' the rules. Somewhere I saw a photo of an enlisted flyer wearing a Pilot/Observer badge and a Pilot badge on his uniform at the same time .

          There are pics of guys with Flak, Erdkampf, and FJ all together. You will always find interesting combos.

                  Great photo! The P/O with diamonds (which Rudel is sporting) was an honorary award, not a combat or qualification badge, and could be worn with other badges without violating any rule or regulation.

                          A possible answer to a request for the gent to remove some of his badges...

                            Hmmm ... I'm wondering if this picture wasn't staged Maybe as a POW who had his uniform "stocked-up" with some badges??

                            I'm not so sure he was allowed to wear all these was he? GAB and IAB together for instance?

                              Could be Darrell, but POWs weren't allowed to have their belts...in all the photos I've seen anyhow.
