    BSW Pilots Badge

    Hi guys,

Can I get some opinions on this BSW badge? I have checked the forum and it seems OK compared to ones that have previously been adjudged as good, especially in relation to the set-up, but as I dont know what to specifically look for when comparing fake vs real I would really appreciate some advice.

    regards

    Steve

            Hi Steve,

It appears to have all the characteristics of a genuine BSW. The "bridge" between the swas and talon on this one has been removed - on many it was not. Imo, it's fine.

                        Mike,

Why didn't they leave them all or just remove them all?

                          Hi William,

I can't answer for workers whims 60 odd years ago! The earlier examples (fully spelled out maker marking) do tend to have the bridge removed, so maybe it was a "transition" finishing effect.

It's also always possible that some of the bridges have been removed by collectors who didn't like the look.

                          Regards
                          Mike

                            Mike,

Thanks for taking the time to school a young collector. I take it I shouldn't look for the bridge on all the badges ey, time to find some other factor to stare at.
