    Juncker Logo

Much has been made of this Juncker maker's mark on badges. I understand there are a number of people who do not believe this to be a genuine mark. A recent author has included this mark, so I'm told, in a book that exhibits it to be correct. A previous book also shows it to be correct. My hope is that posts can be made of this mark with badges for examination. In my mind, this is as large an issue as the 3 'clock S&L RK, if not larger as so many badges may be effected.

Please show us what you have. This is not a poll, please! I appreciate opinions but evidence would be much MORE appreciated.

I'll kick this off with a glider logo.

    Dear Brian,

You try really hard to believe that this logo and badge is real.

You seem to have the Tucker book, so take a look at the Army Flak Badge shown there with the exact same Juncker logo.

Declaring these are acceptable variation Juncker logos only helps people who sell these badges, not you or your collection.

If you have the book open in front of you and look at that Juncker army flak, compare it with this real army flak by Juncker. It is not just that bogus logo that poses a problem, the whole obverse is different too.

        Hello Frank,

I am currently looking at an LW piece to add to my collection that has the same color as the badge you posted here; that black overtone. Looks like STUFF that has just accumulated over the years. Can this be removed with out harming the base medals. If so what. I am not a badge cleaner, but thier is so much of this gook that it really takes away from what could be an awsome example. BTW, the badge that I am speaking of is tomback.

        Best Regards,
        JD

Frank, as much I respect your authority on the subject, you absolutely do NOT understand my motive. I want to get to the truth about Juncker badges and yes, it is the Tucker book I am referring to here. I think we owe it to the members to learn the truth. Examples get us there. Opinions do not. You would be doing me a huge service to help prove this once and for all!

            Frank's Phony Flak logo

Frank, I copied and then compared the logo you graciously posted! It is similar but it is not from the same 'logo stamper'. What are your thoughts?

              Give 'em Hell Brian!!

Have to smile when Frank gets competitive opinions.

              Brian,

I have to agree with Frank here though. There are certain traits in the "accepted" Juncker logo that are just too often seen in other original period badges by this maker, especially in Luftwaffe badges.

The Glider badge you show does not even come close IMO.

I do not personally own one, don't care to either, but have handled two original Juncker Gliders that Tim Calvert owns/ owned and both display the correct and accepted form of the Juncker mark. Now his were tombak/buntmetal and your's appears to be zinc as evidenced by that hinge plate, it still should have the same style maker's mark IMO, though your hinge is considerably different as well.

Maybe Tim C. will post some comments and PICS of his badge/s later, but the writing is on the wall per se and I personanlly don't care for the reference you're calling out as the subject standard. I own it too, but unfortunately, it collects more dust than fingerprints.

Sorry, I know how you feel and this isn't what you want to hear, but I have the feeling that's how many of us are going to respond here on this one--no matter how bad you want to hear something else.
              r, Tim

                Dear Brian,

Here is the full reverse of my real Juncker flak badge. I don´t know what you compared my Juncker logo to, but if you say it is wrong, I should start all over with collecting Third Reich badges.

No matter which book one currently holds in his hands, this Juncker Flak Badge is absolutely textbook. You cannot get a better example.

                Dear Joe,

That black stuff you see on the flak badge is in this case the FINISH. Nothing that has built up over the years. Actually that Juncker army flak is just slightly worn and the finish is still in the original condition. Most Tombak Juncker army flak badges have this very unique "blackened" finish with silver highlights. It is not comparable to other Third Reich badges in that respect.

                Cheers, Frank

No, I thought Frank was showing me a fake badge with a fake logo to compare to my logo. I was hoping someone with an obviously bad piece would post a picture of that badge with the same logo as mine. I was actually quite concerned that Flak badge was being called a fake by Frank, now I understand his post. So, we have a variety of accepted Juncker stamps. The Glider badge is NOT one of them according to you all. But, could you please post an example of a badge that is obvious to all as bad and post that logo with the maker's mark such as mine.

The seller has been watching these posts and doesn't believe a case has yet been made against the item. I think Frank is great with his badges and examples also, I just want to see a crummy Juncker with the same 'bad' logo. Until then, isn't it just opinion? Until then, aren't there many accepted variant Juncker logos? WHY IS THIS ONE BAD???

To all of you that may have not appreciated my stand on the S&L very flawed 3 o'clock arm, feel my pain now....

Ok, Brian, it is simple logic, requires just a few steps:

-Look at my real textbook Juncker Army Flak badge in this thread. Check out the logo-

-Open up page 153 of the new Tucker book, you will see a fake Juncker Army Flak Badge. Check out the logo there, very different.

-Compare Tucker book fake Army Flak Badge logo with YOUR Glider Pilot´s Badge logo. MATCH!

-Ergo: Your Juncker logo does only exist on fakes. Besides that, the Glider Badge has some other problems too, it is NOT just the logo.

Is there a reason why our glider pilot badge lovers remain so quiet on this? Brian apparently needs some voices apart from mine against this logo, otherwise he can´t convince the dealer to take it back. Help him out!

                          Cheers, Frank

Frank I don't own Tucker's new book. Is there another post where the fake Juncker flak is posted? Would Mike Pinkus have one on his pages?

Don't be mad Mike but I cut and paste the logo from a Juncker fake flak cast badge.
