Well gentlemen,

I'm only the messenger so don't shoot me......... The badge has a new owner who reports the swirls are on the eagle reverse, and the rivets are dimpled. As mentioned earlier, the photography on the Site did not do the badge justice. Personally, for what nice GWL's are going for in the states, Kai's price was damn reasonable.

I also spotted that PO badge on KW's site. If I didn't already own one, I would've snatched that one up in a second. Stunning piece!

As far as refinishing a Pilot to PO, I did see an example of a J1 badge a few years back where it looked like it had been refinished. When I looked between the wreath and eagle where they joined, you could see the black finish left over from the dark eagle. To do it right, they'd have to separate the eagle from the wreath, finish both, and reassemble. Problem is getting the colors right on the gilt and silver along with repairing the rivets. Possible, but no easy task....

Having been able to look at the one I posted close up in hand the rivots do exhibit a small indentation in the middle giving it an offset doughnut shape. Under glass it also has the swirls which I never noticed before.

I think GWL's are mainly taken because of their fabulous finish...,but c'mon..nothing beats a a Juncker/Deumer/IMME knuckle head mean looking sister which makes the others look like pigeons....
The art and feeling that went into that design is superb,such a small item with that expression...she's got da looks..!!!
In the light of that I think the other designs are "cold"..,close,karikatures,eagle looking...,sounds like...,"hey,you're a eagle,remember..","how's this look,fellas" ?,"are we done yet" ?,"don't make me angry..","I'm not ready for this..","hey,I'm doing my best.."," I wasn't prepared,can we do it again.."?................

Sorry guys,but think of the guy who spent many hours to create the look of all looks for something nothing more than being a qualification badge..
He did a great job,he had it,Fingerspitzen Gef******252;hl,he could create expression close to nature,he was able to put that in one small eagle..

I'm drifting off...,GWL's are great..,but.............
