Hi Howard, with all due respect, these bullion badges are always a tough call. However this is one of the worst looking eagles I have ever seen. If you have some ironclad provenance then I guess it is authentic otherwise I would say no way in hell.
    best wishes,
    jeff

      Hello Jeff,

I agree it is an ugly eagle. But Bought directly from the vet. over 20 years ago.
He was a very dear friend, and he brought back some wonderful items. I debated for over ten years if I should un-seal the packet, or leave the bird in the cage. As you can tell, the bird flew out.

      Regards,
      Howard

Sorry but in IMO there is no way this is period original badge. I have seen similar cloth bullion badges but this eagle is so bad ... why would the vet bring brand new bullion badge in the packet from the war?
          Thanks

Bag or not, this is not an eagle I would consider wartime. Another obvoius question would be, why is the eagle in gold .

Wrong colors, looks far from original IMO.
20 years ago fakes were already on the market..
              I think it's a bad one.

I wish I could explain all the questions. But I can not. The eagle is ugly, that's a fact. Why the eagle is in gold? I don't know. I had hoped someone with some knowledge would have the answers.

As to why would a vet. bring home a badge in a packet.......
I really don't wish to respond in detail. But I do own several 2nd kls. Iron cross medals in packets, some wound badges in packets, had owned a Cloth German Cross in Gold still in the sealed packet, not to mention all the cased awards.

"Why would the vet bring brand new bullion badge in the packet from the war?" quote from luftwaffe303

If anyone wishes to see photos of some of the other pieces that I were given
to me by the vet., please PM me. As I'm becoming bored with defending everything I post.

                Regards,
                Howard

                  Howard,
You don't have to defend this one,if you think it's a good one that's just fine..

My only advise is to compare it with the nice original bullion PO you've and maybe then you'll notice the differences + there never was a gold eagle on a silver wreath..,pure fantasy item and wrong construction IMO.
The eagle should be more delicate, this one is made of one and the same "gold wire",the all straight, somewhat thicker little coiled springs is something we find on fakes.
                  Just my opinion.

Your PO in the other thread is great though,no bad word about that one..

                  Jos.

                    Hi Howard,

I'd love to see the other packeted awards, please feel to pop them on the cases and packets forum.

Adversly Howard if you like, e mail me the packets out of interest and if you so desire I'll express an opinion, other than that I'd just love to see them
