        hi Skip

This N&B L para looks good. Mine is a zinker. How about this one? Its wreath looks like zinc, but...eagle looks.... very good. BTW, is that eagle's color siliver? Mine is golden.

That is one sweet para...is it really that bright in person, or is that just the light from the scanner?

A nice original badge,I not sure the finish on the eagle is correct. These seem to hold their finish well and the eagle looks too bright, here are some pics of 2 that I have in my collection.Jay Parisi

                Thanks for the replys gents.

The eagle is in fact a silver colour. Appears to have been silver plated. I believe its an original silver plating. Some idiot had painted gold on the top which I recently removed. That probably explains the bright silver look which is******180;nt quiet so shiny in real life.

I wonder if it in fact it ever received any gold at all. There is not a trace in any of the crevices. Like Gerd says, the badge is virtually mint, you can still see some of the protective lacquer on the reverse of the wreath.

                    Skip,

The badge looks very promising. As has already been asked, and for me too, any chance of better images. I'd love to see the actual color! Any story with it?

                      Hi Skip,

                      Nice badge

Interestingly, I have an Assmann injection-moulded example (2 on the wreath from memory) which also appears to have a silver eagle (to me in the hand it does not look like faded gold). I believe I have seen one or two other late-war examples with a silver finish as well. Maybe there's something we don't know about late-war Para Badges and/or award criteria?

                      Regards
                      Mike

Evaluate the item, not the story and not the seller's reputation!

                        Mike,

it sure looks like this one never had a gold coat at all, not a trace anywere. Maybe they had problems getting hold og gold at some point who knows.

                        Mark,

as usual you have a stunner
I looked ages until I found my B&NL with buntmetal eagle. Heres a scan.
You asked about a story. Well ok, although this is now third hand and does´nt mean anything.
These, and a few other medals/badges were "found" by house clearers. Both the AG/RO and Para are from B&NL and virtually mint. There were apparantly Docs to these and the other stuff and both badges were awarded to the same man
I did´nt get to see the Docs but theres supposed to have been an EK1 and some other stuff, all to the same guy.
