    Interesting Early Obsersver

    Hi Guys,

I have an identical badge as in this thread;http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...Assmann+Pilots

I thought i would post pic's & see what everybody thinks about it.I do not think there was a conclusion the discussed badge, but it was pointing to a possible Deumer Mfg. piece IMO.

Please let me know what you think, all comments are appreciated!

    Regards,Ron

Early 1st Pattern Deumer indeed Ron. Nice example! Here's mine, attributed and documented to Hauptmann Hermann Grell.

                    Eric,

Boy,that thread i posted was from Sept.03. I did'nt realize there was a known 1st. Pattern for Deumer Observers.
Obviously you have a attributed piece, which is a real looker!!
Do you know if there is a thread in which these were discussed further?
Nice to know they were finally found to be Deumers.
Thanks again Eric for posting your Badge!

                    Regards,Ron

Nice badges guys! Eric, does your example have the circular mill marks where the middle of the hinge was milled away as well?
                      best wishes,
                      jeff

Post #5 and #6 both appear to show the typical Deumer milling marks. I think thats proof enough to attribute them to Deumer.

                        Nice catch Ron.

                          Hi Guys,
Yes Ron, the conclusion was indeed "Deumer Manufacture"! The mill marks, classic 'C' catch, as well as the flat spot on the upper pin area are classic Deumer traits. These have been discussed in the past, but I really don't know the exact threads to focus on. I'll try to find them. @ Jeff - yeah, the swirl marks are there as well on my example. They are lighter, but there nonetheless.

No problem Jeff! Just for icing on the cake, here is the document to Hauptmann Grell that belongs with this early badge.
