Sorry I´m a bit late but i´ve been away all day and quiet busy.

Thanks for the heads up Darrel.

I can see absolutly no problem with either badge or case. The case is especially nice and quiet rare IMO. Painted bases I have encountered before but also ones without the paint.

I think the explaination is that when its not painted and you remove the badge you can see the light brown base through the slit. If its painted its dark overall.

Otherwise I agree with the others that its a very nice set and worthy of any collection.

For what it's worth, I like 'em both! Early case IMO. Textbook Juncker Ro/Ag.

            Hi guys,

sorry but I missed the thread , thanks for call me.

for me too all set is original. Badge is textbook, case is a very nice one in very good conditions, but I don't think early. Photo light too bright change its original colour. No glue inside because all is on the insert ( this is in cartoon ?) .

Black colour was painted to don't show the bright colour of case inside, in fact the velvet of insert is cuted and open ,very early cases velvet were NOT cuted , so didn't need to put piece of carboard or painted it to cover.

This case is scarce, very tall, when you would sell it , call me !

Please let me know if insert is cartoon or wood.

Thanks everyone. I really like the set and all answers have convinced me to keep it.

@Ivan - Yes, you are correct. There is very little glue on the bottom of the case where the insert came out. Most of it stuck to the bottom of the insert when it was lifted off the base of the case. That picture is a tad over-exposed, so you can't see it very well.

On both sides of the slit in the insert are two pieces of thin wood. That is where most of the dried glue resides today.

See below pic. The Red Rectangles indicate the wooden portion. Also note the Yellow Rectangles are where most of the glue that was on the base of the case lifted off when the insert was pulled out (no .. not by me ).

@Giel .... you can sleep easy my friend. This guy's staying in Canada

I have been away, so I am late, but Darrel had asked for my opinion earlier in a PM:

I can only echo what has been said. Nice set and I do not think the hinge has been resoldered.
                  Cheers, Frank

                    Thanks Frank. Always appreciated.

One more question guys ... I want to try and nail down a time frame for construction (if thats possible) as well as type for this set.

                    1. Any idea the time frame for the manufacture of the case and badge.

                    2. What model is this badge (some have said J2 others J3).

                    Thank you.

Badge and case may have been together for a long time, but possibly not. In that case, look at it this way: you reveived an early war badge with an even earlier and rare case.
                      Cheers, Frank

Thats true Frank. We can never always be 100% sure any case belongs to the badge that's in it ...

                          Darrell,

by my opinion case can be its original.

Maybe is impossible for you but can you do a photo of insert so can be possible to see the layers of wood ? ( for me it looks as pressed cartoon)

Hi Ivan. No problem. Even had some decent lighting today.
