      Hi,

The badge and case are both original imo. I'm personally don't think this earlier high quality B&NL came in this later war case though. I'd be interested to see a pic of the case insert withough the badge.

        Like Mike says,

case and badge are both original IMO. The case is a sort of transition piece, early type case with nice push button but the insert is the mid/late war type. Probably with round holes top and bottom for hinge/hook.
Hard to say if the badge belongs to the case but at least they are both authentic and could belong together.

        Nice set BTW

What's that red stuff between the wing and the wreath?

As Skippy says in the theory of an observational evolution as such of these cases, this would be the later version of the latter versions. The lid liner and base and the 'hinge gap' covering are all of this brushed sorts - latter comparison.

Where as with slightly so though 'earlier' versions of this box are a combination of qualities.

I can only see the top 5 pics, the rest are red crosses, so whats Rich mean with "red stuff"?

The box is OK, no need for more pics.

                  Hi,

Skip, the last image in post#1 (as per below). Looks like it might be some cloth or cardboard jammed in - on both sides I think - maybe to tighten a loose eagle.

I only wanted an additional pic of the insert to see if there was room for the hinge to fit in - looks like there is room and the wear marks on the felt flocking seem to match the eagle as well. If the badge has been married to the case it looks like it is not a recent event and I'll so so far as to withdraw my previous implication to that effect - looks like they may below together after all.

                  Regards
                  Mike

Like Mike said, it looks like it has been "shimmed". The rivet is probably a little loose so the shim stabilizes the wing and wreath.

                      Hi,

I think ALL pieces of the case are later ones, cover and insert.

                      Badge too is original.

I've got an early quality B&N L badge in a later case that was a vet bringback--so it's not an unknown situation.
