Pilot's badge with repair up for review

Hello everybody

I have found this Pilot's badge and have always loved how they look. This one has a (what looks like) a period repair that isn't too intrusive but I would like to know if it's a genuine WW2 badge and from what maker? Also what would this be worth to you? I don't want to overpay an already expensive object for me.

Edit: strangely it didn't occur to me that the back says BSW so the maker is marked
