Jeff, Hopefully you did not pay too much for it, and at least you have a good attitude. These are expensive pieces and the fakers are hard at it to get our money. Buying anything from the third reich requires a lot of effort and study, especially badges. Good luck.jeff

Hi Jeff,
I can't judge the story (you only have a several people's word that it came from a vet) but I have to agree with the others that the badge is simply not a Juncker, nor genuine. There ARE Juncker POs with the 68 in their maker mark, but they are ONLY found in zinc.

Mike,
You mentioned the '68' on the makermark. Maybe I was too hasty. Now that I think about it, has someone here posted (over the years) a late war Juncker zinker with the later makermark? I vaguely remember such a beast, but did not save any images in my files.
Lorenzo,
Was it you that had posted such a 'scarce' piece?

Jeff I did not pay to much for it,I think it was in the $550 range, but this was when I was still with my ex-wife and the money came from her end, so really I did not lose anything . The story is definitely legit., its a matter of where and when the vet brought the badge back. Over the years you hear these stories of them still making medals for souvenirs for the GI's. I guess this must fit in that category. Later when I get a chance I will post the case in the case forum. I bought that more recently. Thanks...Jeff

Maybe a little off the original topic, but I know that there are those out there that prey on vets. I know of one case (the a@#!hole bragged about it) in which a vet was showing awards he had brought back to a dealer. The dealer left, found a fake copy of the same award. He contacted the vet and asked to see the original again. When the vet agreed, he switched his fake for the vets original.
If only I had known where it came from.
The vets cannot be blamed for everything. I know this happened so can only imagine how many others have done this.

Mark, on the 68 mark, I do have a copy of Lorenzo's air gunner badge with the late mark. I believe it is still on his website as well.
Detlev had a 68 marked radio operator for sale last week, I tried but missed . That is the first radio operator that I have seen with the late style mark. Lorenzo also had a 3rd pattern pilot with the 68 mark he posted once too.
