Hi Joerg,

I don't care for the example that you posted, the finish looks like it was spray painted on, I understand the badge is supposed to have a gold wash or laquer of sorts and not gilt,but I still don't like it. The fins on the tail of the bomb as well as the wings have to many ribs and the tail fin should have a center high point. The catch and hinge set-up look like some late war set-ups ,but the one on this badge............hmmm I just don't like it.

The hanger.............I never like them solidered to the side of the wreath and have the finish over them, sure sign of a refinished piece or repop.




My vote is it is a POS.

That would be my guess as well, clasp fake, hanger very likely ok.

is it possible that the clasp was made of original parts? I do know the story about the clasp and it was bought in the early 50ths.

Dear Jörg,

Maybe minor parts such as the catch COULD be original, but certainly there is no original clasp with that "Mittelstrebe" behind the bomb device.
