    B&N L Pilot or P/O Badge? Value?

This badge recently came out of the closet along with a 1st issue Luftwaffe sword.
Is it possible to tell through these on-line photos if it is a Pilot or Pilot/Observer badge? The digital colors of the wreath came out fairly true....flat goldish front, very flat silverish back. I found a ancient thread here that discussed a purported BNL P/O badge but the accompanying photos are long gone. Does anyone have those on file for a comparison? This badge is excellent except for the missing pin. What would be an approx. value? Is it repairable? Thanks very much, C.

The prevailing opinion is that BNL never made a PO badge, but it looks like an original pilot's badge from the obverse.

Attempting to repair it would probably actually lower the value.

Definitely a pilot badge; the reverse settles any confusion.

          Hi,

Yes, definitely a Pilot's Badge. B&NLs commonly had a "laquer" applied which yellows with age.

Keep your eye out for a cheap denazified or badly damaged example with intact pin. You may be able to replace the pin that way - and if you go to sell it, do the right thing and tell the next owner! Any other type of repair would detract though.

Evaluate the item, not the story and not the seller's reputation!

If you PM/contact me without the courtesy of using your first name, please don't be offended if I politely ignore you!

Thank you, everyone, for the confirmation of badge type. About value; is $650 too high for this condition? Best regards, C.

The value is as much as the new owner is willing to pay for it. However IMO $650 is a very fair price for it , again just my opinion.
              Thanks
