    Ground Combat Badge by AGMuK

I did a quick search but didn't find any thread related to a GCB made by AGMuK.
Also I didn't find any picture on Mike Pinkus site dedicated to this badge.

IMO my badge is original but I'd like to hear your comments. It is made of buntmetal.

The maker mark is difficult to read. There's no rivet for the eagle.

Perhaps an interesting thread ? Let me know !

Really interessting badge ... the eagle looks like the eagle Rudolf Garneth, Gablonz used for their Ground Assault Badges. Perhaps their is a connection with the AGMuK Group ?
            Best regards, Andreas

I recently saw exactly the same badge, but marked "Imme & Sohn" at a show here. I did´nt like it at all. Had a strange "greasy" feeling to it. Badge would appear to be buntmetal, which is suprising in itself for a LuftGAB, and then it has a plate under the hook!!

Strange badge. The reverse setup has nothing in common with other AGMuK badges. Not one that I would buy, although the eagle does look quiet presentable.

                Hi jmb,

An interesting badge for certain but not one that I am keen on. The fact that it is buntmetal is concerning, given that even the 3-rivets MuK5 and RK examples are all zinc and even the single-rivet type with tombak eagle is a zinc badge. How exactly is the eagle attached? Although the obverse appears to have good detail and paintwork on the clouds, the reverse apears to have "soft" edges which are normally associated with castings. Are there any shear maeks on the edges? I don't really like the weakly stamped maker mark either, but that is probably not a major consideration. I might have seen this this style marking on known repros though, which would be a concern - I'm not 100% sure on this point. The main pin looks like it has a last and not well formed "shepherds hook" at the hinge end. I think unless some strong supporting evidence comes along, this one is "not for my collection".

                Regards
                Mike K

PS: I see Skip has made a good observation about the presence of a catchplate on a tombak badge - NOT a good sign imo.
                Regards
                Mike

                  JMB,

I'm with Mr. Skip. I don't like the badge you show. The hinge, pin, and catch are like no other MuK badge I've ever seen. The hallmark is a new one for me too. I am used to seeing MuK5 on the Luft GAB. Period. Your hallmark is atypical and looks thinly punched.

I'd toss that one back. Not a 'keeper' for me.

Here is my badge for comparison. The MuK makermark is hidden behind the pin, about 3/4 of the way up. The 'M' is peeking out on the pin's left side.

                  Regards,
                  Mark

                    Luft Badge

                    Hello JMB,
I am with Skip and Mark. I do not like your badge. I have owned over 20 Luftwaffe ground combat badges by MuK5 and they all looked like the example posted by Mark.

I would not want the example you posted. I have too bad of a feeling about it-sorry.
                    Regards,
                    Jody

Know your stamps! You gentlemen all came to the right conclusion anyway, but here is some proof that this mark is wrong. It appears frequently on PAB fakes:

All, while most have tried to compare jmb's badge to the MuK5 (which makes since considering the mark), if you look at the GB ground assaults you may have you will see far more similarities. Take a look at the thread below for marked and unmarked GB ground assaults, (something no one ever bothered to comment on and I thought I did a good job of making my case )

                              http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...199#post797199

The hinge, catch and a feature of the wreath of jmb's badge is close to a GB. Could it be an original, unmarked piece that some yahoo stuck a bogus mark on?
