    No, it cannot be an original badge with a bogus mark. It is made from Tombak. Just as the PAB equivalent tries to be a Zimm.... Steinhauer & Lück, this GAB tries to be a GB.

      To Mike K, yes there are shear marks on the edges.

      To Alan, like you I had seen similarities with the GB ground assaults badge.

        of course i agree with all of the above...the first and easiest determination of being suspect , as mentioned, is the tombac construction with the catch plate...always something to question very hard....and the fact that even the "known" early varients of this badge, RK and Muk are made of zinc leads one to the only conclusion that this is a bogus piece....the LGAB was authorized in the spring of 1942, and production at the earliest was happening by the summer... well past the time of the tombac badges.
