      Hi guys,

i must say i find this thread very interesting and don´t have so mutch to add.
But i do have a thing that puzzels me that might also fit in to this and here it goes.

Why do we encounter a bunch of unexplainable odd mixes of badges and makermarks at the moment?

Why haven´t these surfaced earlier? This Osang Flak is one, we also have the boxed 21 SHuCo IAB, boxed small W GAB, PAB and IAB etc.

I have a bad feeling about that thanks to forums like this one together with the todays modern technology the Fakers are starting to get a upper hand. And as Skip says it´s not that hard to put a makermark on a badge with the know how.

The "Why so few" can be very simply explained. The Fakers have learned their lesson of massproduction from the past, that the flood of "new and odd" badges will be detected by us the collectors sooner or later. So they simply makes a smaller batch to put on the market, because a small amount of "new" fakes will be harder to explain as fakes...

I strongly beleave that we will see some more of this in the future i am afraid.

Just my 2 cents in this.
      Regards
      Hans N

Don´t throw away your fake WB´s! Get in touch with me.
I collect them for reference purposes for the benefit of the hobby (for the right "fake" price of course).

        Hans,
I think the internet has a lot to do with this. We have many "new" discoveries in just the last few years as this forum is up and we can collaborate.

        Robert,
Good question. Not overlooked point at all. I just do not have a friggin clue...

          Hi Robert,

To simplify my explanation: I have a factory. I make products for the Government. There is a good chance that my factory will be destroyed. The Allies tried to bomb it all last week. Should I just sit here and do nothing. No. I will toss some 'basics' on the back of a truck. I will call some business friends for help. I will do what I can. If my factory is destroyed tonight, I have some supplies in an old building down the river. My friends in the next city said they will help me with some raw materials and some already made products.

Every other industry in the Reich moved to another facility when their location was detected and bombed. Why should badge manufacture be that much different.

              OKAY, we're all friends again.

Look, this is a freaking great thread guys. Keep it going.

My 2 cents. I agree with Mark that it is a possibility (good one) that there was a backup of some sort. BUT, Robert raises a good point - why mark the badge? And why an EARLY one? That Flak is circa 1942.

                Frank,

Sorry to intrude here. I am only fulfilling half of your request.

The scan was taken without permission from COLLECTING MILITARY BADGES OF THE THIRD REICH, by Michael F. Tucker.

(It will be removed by request from the Author.)

                Hope this helps.

Hm, upon further thought, you could photograph your wife scanning these bits from the book, yes?

                  Dear Mark,

                  Thank you!!
I think we all agree that this is again the variant "round O" Osang maker mark. Unfortunately we cannot see from which clasp it was taken. I will contact Mike Tucker and see if he still has info about this.
Interstingly, the clasp has the triangle shaped "regular" Osang cutouts, versus the round holes like mine.
For people who constantly disbelieve: if you are not familiar with perfectly round drilled holes on clasps, check Doehle's contemporary Third Reich book about German badges. The Schlachtflieger clasp pictured there is of exactly my type with the round, drilled holes. Design is also a match (Osang type 2).
I also have an original Schlachtflieger clasp that has NO holes at all. Just as an aside info.
                  Cheers, Frank
