    Assmann RO/AG

Another Assmann for show and be told, the wreath does not match my other Assmanns, it has the 10 oakleaf bunches on the righthand side, but is different to my earlier 10 bunch pilot wreath, all my other later wreaths have 9 bunches.
    Advice appreciated.

I am going thru past threads trying to find an eagle that matches this one, none so far, but would anyone else consider this is very similar to a Juncker wreath?
This one from collection of Bill Grist.

Another shot of the one in hand, is it possible to have shared components like this?

            Hi Colin,

actually I´m non to keen on the badge at all. Does´nt look like a Assmann eagle or wreath to me. Like you say, more like a Juncker.

Added to the fact that the rear setup looks nothing like any other Assmann, the lack of hand finishing around the rear or the wreath and the Assmann "A" looks totally wrong I would be very suspicious indeed.

              Hi Colin,

I thought the LW guys would have helped you out by now but since the didn't here are my thoughts.

I don't really get a warm feeling looking at this badge. The badge wreath and eagle have weak detailing, it looks like it's made out of some kind of colored metal but it features ans Assmann zinc set-up

Here is my BM Assmann to compare it with

The badge can be returned but is still interesting to study while I have it, the point about the set up I thought of too as the badge is not zinc, but good quality metal.Re the maker mark, I think Assmann has so many marks it's hard to make a judgement too quickly, this comparison to my para badge mark shows they are quite similar IMO.

I am trying too find this eagle
The lightning bolt of the top right hand side is so short, my other Assmanns have quite long bolts, a comparison shot again.
Thanks for the opinions Philippe and Skip

                      Hi Colin,

yep, on the L/64 mark it looks similar. Assmann indeed had a lot of different styles of markings. What always bothers me on these "thin legged" ones is that its the type you can find on their post war produced badges for the West German Army as well as for other foreign countries.

Its not just the mark though, its the whole badge togeather thats suspicious. All added up it does not make a very good impression and one that I would be liable to leave laying on the table rather than take the risk.

Eagle, the neck is shorter than the other Assmanns too.

Are these tiny little raised marks from casting?, they are not too visable in the hand but blown up in the pic you can see them clearly, anyone know of this pattern eagle? it must have come from somewhere.
                        Thanks again

Thanks skip, it is the suspicious ones that I would return if all by myself I post here mostly.. ok it looks like I buy nothing but copies sometimes but better safe than sorry.

                          Cheers again

                            Colin,

What jumps out at me, is something I have never seen on a period badge before. Looking at the left side of the Blitzen, from the reverse, are the sawblade (detailing) cut marks. Those marks put me off. They don't reflect the 3R attention to detail I would expect to see.

                            Mark

                              Dear Colin,

For me, it is a fake cast from a Juncker eagle and wreath with a fake Assmann mark added.
                              Cheers, Frank
