AS 2nd pattern E-boat Badge

I have seen two types of AS 2nd pattern e-boat badges.
One flat backed and one which looks to be slightly scooped out and I wondered if any one else has noticed the same or knows why?

I have noticed both type reverses on these badges as well. To the best of my knowledge, both types are ok.

Hi peter both types of these style of awards are accepted for A.S. Dont know why the change.Would nt have thought the die was worn out as not that many produced. Up grade maybe,broken die just guessing here. would be interesting if anyone had a reason for this change?.Too my belief it is not as heavily faked as other awards.But undoubtedly that will change in time.

Looks like these two examples have different catches as well. One looks like round wire, and the other more flat. Just an oberservation I made.

I also noticed the flat wire and round wire catches but as you can see you also get the flat wire on the scooped out back. So looks like there are two styles of AS e-boat badge.
